How to read your Team Align report

Get insights what matters to your team, how you compare to peers and how to improve

Updated over a week ago

This guide is to help people who have already submitted their Align results and want to know what's next. If you're not quite at this point yet we have other articles for how to set up an Align, how to complete an Align, and general Align FAQs.

Here's a quick video guide with everything you need to know about reading your Align -

How to find the Report

Most people first view the report when an Align is closed and your personal results are sent to you via email. However, you can also view the results by going to your team's Align page.

Report Sections

The Align report four sections and you can navigate between these sections by clicking on the menu on the top of the screen.

Team Results

This section is where you'll find insights on how your team as a whole answered the Align survey, and what behaviors you and your teammates might want to focus on for your improvement efforts.

The dots are your team's aggregate score for each statement. Further to the left (in the red) means the statement is both important and not doing well, further to the right (in the green) means the statement is important and going well, while the middle (yellow) don't lean strongly either way.

We also have the capability to benchmark your team against others. In the header of the "16 statement overview" card, select benchmark you wish to view. The benchmarks are represented by blue diamonds (the org-specific benchmarks are often very revealing). This is useful for uncovering second-layer insights ("hm... we scored lower on efficient team meetings, but turns out it's an issue for a lot of teams! Maybe there's an opportunity to learn from what others are trying").

If your team has previously run an Align exercise, you can benchmark against your team's previous results to see how your team's results changed over time.

You can also see the raw (anonymized) data of how team members answered each question by clicking on the Scatterplot icon next to each statement. Notice that each statement will have a different level of agreement within the team.

Team Insights (For Team Managers/Discussion Facilitators only)

This section of the report, exclusively for team managers, highlights the main insights from the report as a Coach would observe them. You can also explore what you can do about the insights which identify a potential area of opportunity for the team.

This can be especially beneficial for managers or facilitators who are prepping for an upcoming discussion, and don't know where they can start. Have a look at our suggestions, see which ones resonate, and use while prepping. (And if you'd like support while prepping, reach out to us for a coaching call!)

Personal Insights

This section shows how your answers compare with those of your teammates. If you have completed your Perspective profile, it also highlights how your personality affects your perception of the team's dynamics.

The first thing you see is insights on how you answered the statements. It highlights what you perceive as important vs less important and what you think is going well vs is going less well.

The second section helps you explore areas where your answer mostly did not align with that of your team. You have the opportunity to click into each one and explore in more detail as well. This section is particularly useful for identifying personal blindspots - areas where you and the rest of your teammates may not see eye-to-eye on things.

The final section on his page highlights how your personality plays a part. It focuses on two main things:

  1. What parts of your personality can help the team get better at one of its areas of opportunity

  2. What you can be mindful of while having a discussion with your team. Let's say you're highly extroverted- maybe it would benefit the team discussion if you gave others more space to speak and discuss as well

This is particularly helpful to identify areas where you can contribute to the team by being mindful of your own areas of strengths and opportunities based on your personality.
